On Sunday, 21 September 2008 the first Qantas Airbus A380 arrived in Sydney following its delivery flight from Toulouse. Registered VH-OQA and named "Nancy Bird Walton" in honour of the pioneer aviator, the aircraft made a number of circuits over the city and harbour before landing at Kingsford Smith International Airport. In this commissioned painting, the aircraft lowers its landing gear over Gladesville Bridge in preparation for the landing on runway 16R at Sydney.
